Since writing my post, The Top 5 Healthy Ways to Lose Weight, I have been getting some inquiries as to how I use Smart Pressed Juice as a cleanse.
Have you ever done a juice cleanse? It may or may not have involved an exhaustive shopping list, hours of juicing, and let's not forget the insane amount of time spent cleaning that dang juicer. Sound familiar?
I'm not sure about you, but being a mom and a full time art teacher with a second biz of Widespread Love Design on the side, I just don't have time for that. So when I stumbled upon Smart Pressed Juice, I was intrigued.
I wasn't kidding when I dubbed this cleanse "The Game Changer." It is like a magical reset button to get you back on track.
So let's get into it. The Smart Pressed Juice Cleanse claims to "Jump Start Your Health Journey," and I have to say, I wholeheartedly agree. If you read my previous blog post, you heard me talk about how I tried it after a week of "vacation eating," which to me means eat and drink anything you want anytime you want and exercise is optional and almost never. After a 3-day cleanse, I lost the 3.4lb of vacation and weight and was feeling awesome. Since I loved how that worked and loved how I felt, I now do a one day cleanse each Monday, just to start my week off right. Today is Monday, so I thought this would be a good time to write this as I enjoy my first treat of the day, a tropical de-bloat green smoothie. More about that later. Let's talk about Smart Pressed Juice. What are they all about? According to the Smart Pressed Juice website:
"Our plant-based certified organic juice powders are made locally in Southern California from superfood fruits and vegetables that are freshly pressed and bioactively dehydrated immediately after harvest to lock in nutrients at their peak. Everything we make is clean label which means USDA certified organic, non-GMO, Kosher, no added sugar, no artificial ingredients, no gluten/soy and certified vegan."
I really liked the sound of that, and was interested in their cleanses for sure.
So on the Smart Pressed Juice website, they offer 1, 3, and 7 day cleanses. Since I had already tried and loved their Pineapple Chia Cleanse product, I took a leap and decided that instead of buying the little cleanse package, I would go for their "Everything You Need Bundle," which includes all the products from the cleanse, but in bulk. The "Everything You Need Bundle" includes the amazing Pineapple Chia Cleanse (find out more about that here), plus the Vanilla Vegan Proteini, Organic Pressed Greens, and Revive Beets and Roots.
I am so happy I ordered the bulk, because this cleanse is a keeper!
What I love most about the Smart Pressed Juice Cleanse is that it is practical and gentle enough to do anytime, anywhere.
I can do it at work - no problem! Unlike other cleanses I have tried, that seemingly had me rushing to the restroom multiple times and therefore had to be done over a three-day weekend, this one has zero discomfort. And in my humble opinion, they all taste great, too. But before I start a cleanse, I like to look at the timeline to see if it is something manageable for my lifestyle. According to the Smart Pressed Juice website, their recommended outline for one of their cleanses runs from 8am to 8pm. If you take a look at the timeline below, straight from their website, you can see that there is a meal involved - so this is not a cleanse where you are starving yourself. They suggest that your meal be something "clean," and I like to keep my meal vegetarian when I am cleansing.

I loved their sample schedule, but decided to tweak a few things to better fit my daily routine.
To be successful on a cleanse, and in this case to make it part of my wellness ritual, it needs to be super practical and not cause me a bunch of extra work or alter my daily routine.
So here is how I switched it up for that first three day cleanse I did:
9AM Vanilla Vegan Proteini: I started off with this and mixed it with chilled oat milk in a shaker/blender bottle. I don't typically eat breakfast because I like to do intermittent fasting (I'll save that for another post) so I did not start at 8am I just had it when I started feeling a little hungry around 9am. Side note - I tried this mixed with cold water on day two and also liked it, so that's a way to cut a few more calories if you'd like to. The Proteini is a low carb, low calorie protein that is meant to cut cravings and includes prebiotics. I think it's delish!
11AM Revive Beets + Roots: When I started feeling like I could use a little boost and was hungry again, I tried this one out. I blended it with some frozen mixed berries, a little ice, and water. The flavor is great and the color of this one is so beautiful! I found this product to give me a boost of energy, and according to the Smart Pressed Juice site, it "naturally boosts your body's energy," through freshly pressed organic beets, turmeric, ginger and superfood roots. And apparently, when you freshly press and then immediately dehydrate, you lock in all those nutrients.
1PM Organic Pressed Greens: around lunch time I decided to do the pressed greens, because typically I have my Shakeology for lunch and like to have a meal for supper. So instead of having the meal mid-day like the timeline suggested, I switched it up. Now, let me warn you about the greens - my first try did not go so well. But don't worry, I found a smoothie recipe I LOVE, and I'll talk about that in a bit when I explain my modified maintenance routine with Smart Pressed Juice. Anyway, there are lots of recipes out there to try with this mix so you can surely find something you like. I tried to make a salad dressing and it was a fail - but probably totally user error, haha! So then I made a smoothie with some frozen mixed fruit , ice and water, and it was pretty darn tasty.
3PM Shakeology Superfood Shake: This is not part of the Smart Pressed Cleanse at all, but as you can see in the graphic from above, they have the Proteini on the cleanse timeline twice. If you read my Top 5 Healthy Ways to Lose Weight article, you already know that Shakeo is my tried and true secret weapon. So I decided to sub it in. Also, when I bought the bulk items from Smart Pressed Juice, the Vanilla Proteini has the largest container, but the least amount of servings! It only has 20 servings, so if I used that twice a day I would only get 10 days of cleansing and I wanted to get all I could. Also, I love my chocolate banana peanut butter pow Shakeo and was craving it, per usual.
5PM The Meal: At supper time I had a meal. Trader Joe's makes this yummy saute kit that I absolutely crave! It is called the "Miso Vegetables and Brown Rice Saute Kit. Super yum! Give it a try next time you go to TJ's!
7PM Pineapple Chia Cleanse: Ahhh, my favorite product. The cleanse timeline showed this at 8PM, but I generally don't eat after 7. So I did this at 7PM. The Pineapple Chia Cleanse has become a nightly after dinner ritual for me and I swear by it. If you want to get the skinny on this awesome product, check out my Top 5 Healthy Ways to Lose Weight.
The schedule above is what I did for my first three day cleanse, the one where I lost all my vacation weight.
As soon as I saw those results, I knew this cleanse was a keeper. Since then I have come up with a modified maintenance cleanse that works really well for me and I have been doing it weekly for almost two months now.
Searching for the best way to incorporate those greens without another fail, I found a yummy looking recipe that included the Pineapple Chia Cleanse and the Organic Pressed Greens together. Now, I had already been using the Pineapple Chia and like I said, it's my nightly after dinner ritual, so I wasn't sure if having it twice would be OK or not. And I really like my nightly ritual. After doing a little research I decided twice a day is totally fine on the days I am cleansing, and I haven't had any negative effects whatsoever. I'm sticking with my modified maintenance cleanse as outlined below.
I feel refreshed, light and vibrant after just a one day cleanse, and know from experience that if I do it multiple days I can get some weight loss results!

The Smart Pressed Juice Cleanse is like a "reset button," and a great way to start off your week. I don't know about you, but I like having fun on the weekend and that sometimes means going out to eat or enjoying a beverage with friends. So it's just nice to reset with my maintenance cleanse and get back on track.
Besides acting as a "reset button" anytime I feel like I need it, I have also noticed a flatter tummy, my clothes fitting nicely (aka no muffin top!) and increased energy.
Beyond that, Smart Pressed Juice products are plant-based, certified organic powders and they allow me to juice cleanse without spending hours cleaning a juicer. I mean, really, what's not to love!?!
